Title: TogoMCP: Exploring Life-Science Databases with AI in Plain Language
Life-science knowledge is spread across dozens of databases, each with its own schema and identifiers. The RDF Portal of DBCLS integrates many of them as linked data, but querying it with SPARQL has required expertise that most researchers do not have. TogoMCP closes this gap. It is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI assistants such as Claude search more than 40 databases, including UniProt, PDB, ChEMBL, Rhea, and Reactome, and link results across them, starting from a question written in plain language. In this tutorial, I will explain how TogoMCP works and demonstrate it live on protein-related questions, from structures and ligands to pathways and disease variants. No programming experience is required, and participants are welcome to bring their own research questions.
